Richard Hawkes
Richard is a retired Professor of Education.  He worked 35 years at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls Iowa retiring in 2002.  His primary duties were administrative involving both on and off campus programs.  He was also the owner of several small businesses and served as a labor mediator for the State of Iowa.  He served on numerous Boards in several communities.  His board work included serving in both the public and private sector.  He was instrumental, in 1984, in the establishment of a 501 c-3 foundation that served as a vehicle for providing scholarships to high school seniors in Southwest Iowa.  He served as the first President of the Board.  The educational foundation is still active today.  He and his wife Jan purchased their home in Palo Verde in 1997 and became full-time residents in 2002.  He has served on several CW/PV HOA committees and was a CW/PV Board member for nine years.

Prior to moving to Sun Lakes in November 2020 with her husband Pat, Jeanne lived in Grand Junction, CO for 26 years. She grew up in Nebraska and is a huge football fan! She has been a CPA since 1994. Jeanne held various financial related positions in a Colorado healthcare insurance company for 24 years prior to moving to Sun Lakes. Being involved in service, whether at her church or in her community is what fills Jeanne’s spirit. She is happy to have the opportunity to serve Sun Lakes residents in this capacity!
Louis Baca
Louis Baca has 30-plus years’ experience in executive and middle management positions in both the non-profit and corporate arenas. Prior to retirement he served in leadership roles in the public relations and training departments of the Intel Corporation. He also served as the Interim Executive Director of the American Indian Graduate Center responsible for managing the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Millennium Scholarship Program for Native Americans. He earned a master’s degree in Instructional Design and Human Resource Development from the University of New Mexico. He also attended seminars at Tony Robbins Mastery University, studying Personal and Professional Development, and Indiana University’s School of Professional Fundraising, studying fundraising strategies. Before retiring he served as the Public Relations manager at the Gila River Health Care Corporation where he led a comprehensive rebranding of the corporation. He is currently the Owner of Native by Design, LLC which designs and manufactures a unique line of Native American apparel. Louis is a member of the Santa Clara Pueblo tribe in New Mexico and has served on the Board of Trustees of the internationally renowned Heard Museum in Phoenix. He and his significant partner Vicki Matunas have lived in Sun Lakes since January 2021.

Carolyn Leneway

Carolyn joins the Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation with over 25 years of experience with market research, program evaluation and management consulting for profit and non-profit health and social services organizations concerned with issues facing older Americans.  As a vice president of an international research firm and subsequently president of her own consulting firm, she has applied her skills for clients’ work in a variety of fields including health care, finance, housing, grant-making practices, long-term care, volunteer leadership, and coalition and community building.

Carolyn and her husband, Bob, moved the Sun Lakes 4 years ago to enjoy the many benefits that the community offers.  In addition to the Foundation, she is currently a member of two Sun Lakes-based organizations: PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) and Fun Lakers.  Joining the Foundation will offer many opportunities for her to give back to this great community she loves.
